The Fourth Congress of Asian Pacific
Society of Atherosclerosis and Vascular Diseases (APSAVD)
2004

ASIAN PACIFIC ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND CARDIVASCULAR
CONGRESS OPENED IN BALI. Over 500 medical experts
and professionals from Asia Pacific countries gathered
in Nusa Dua, Bali for attending the Fourth Congress
of Asian Pacific Society of Atherosclerosis and Vascular
Diseases (APSAVD) 2004. Themed “Atherosclerosis
and Vascular Diseases, Today and Tomorrow”, the
four-day congress took place in Bali International Convention
Centre (BICC). The APSAVD 2004 Congress Overall Chairman
Professor Slamet Suyono accompanied the Director General
of Medical Care of the Ministry of Heath Republic of
Indonesia Sri Astuti visiting the exhibition held in
conjuction with the congress, after the official opening
on 6 May 2004.

Islamic Conference of Islamic
Scholars

INDONESIA HOSTS INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC CONFERENCE.
The President of Republic Indonesia, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri,
opened the International Conference of Islamic Scholars
in Jakarta on 23 February 2004. Bearing the theme of
Upholding Islam as Rahmatan lil Alamin, the
three-day conference discussed religious issues and
the image of Islam in Indonesia. Held in Jakarta Convention
Center on 23 – 26, the conference was held by
Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization, the
Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), in cooperation with the government
and attended by some 300 delegates from 49 countries. |

Tourism Indonesia Mart & Expo
(TIME) 2004

YOGYAKARTA WELCOMES TIME 2004. Located
at the heart of Java, Yogyakarta is readying itself
to host TIME or Pasar Wisata Indonesia on 26 –
29 September 2004 at the Jogja Expo Centre (JEC). Chairperson
of TIME 2004 Steering Committee, Meity Robot, briefed
the media that the event will target 150 international
buyers and 150 sellers and focus on developing the potential
of ASEAN and Middle East countries, besides Japan, China,
Taiwan, and Australia. The Yogyakarta Provincial Secretary,
Bambang Priyohadi, highlighted that at the last two
days of ‘Royal TIME 2004’, national kingdoms
from all over Indonesia and neighboring countries will
gather in Yogyakarta for the National Kingdom Festival.
Also present at the Press Conference held in Jakarta
on 19 February was Chairman of Indonesia Tourism Promotion
Board (ITPB), Pontjo Sutowo, and Ika Nazaruddin of Pacto
Convex (TIME event organizer).

The 9th Asia Securities Forum

BALI GREETS ASIAN CAPITAL SECURITIES DELEGATES.
The proud young faces of Balinese dancers smiled broadly
at the 9th Asian Securities Forum opening ceremony on
30 January 2004 at Grand Hyatt Bali - and kept smiling
during the three-day event.

RESTORING CONFIDENCE IN ASIAN CAPITAL MARKET.
Minister of Finance RI, Boediono, delivered his keynote
address at the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Asia Securities
Forum attended by representatives of Asia Pacific securities
associations.The forum also presented 2004 Investment
& Economic Outlook featuring various speakers including
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Laksamana Sukardi,
Economic Observer Chatib Basri, Author Jim Rogers and
VP & Chief Equity Strategist at APR Merryl Lynch
Spencer White.

APEI HOSTS 9th ASIAN SECURITIES FORUM.
As many 300 delegates representing in securities association
in the Asia and Pacific region gathered in Bali on 28
- 30 January 2004 for the 9th Asian Securities Forum.
The event was hosted by Indonesian Securities Companies
Associaton (APEI), and themed “Restoring Confidence
in the Asian Capital Market’. On the picture is
